WordPress Halftone Shirt

I’ve been doing alot of research into t-shirt design recently and I came across a neat color combo that I wanted to try out. What do you think?

Akismet Business Cards

For a while I’ve been trying to figure out a new business card design for myself. I want something unique, something that people will remember and keep. Upon further reflection on my first attempt I decided that I need to do something a little less unique 🙂 .

At the meetup we worked on updating the homepage and one of the elements that Dan created I think would be really neat to have on a business card. What do you think about this?

WP.com Commercial Serious Version

After having a bit of fun with Optimus Prime I decided it might be fun to try again, but this time be a bit more serious. I’m probably going a different direction than most people would. While I love WordPress I don’t necessarily think that the other options out there are all that bad, some of them are actually quite good. But there is one thing I think no other service will ever be able to compete with, the WordPress community.

I’m talking about the underlying WordPress community (meetups, WordCamps, WP.org forums) and the WordPress.com community (WP.com forums, Reader, Daily Post). I’m not sure why other people blog but I do it to make connections and share my passions. To me finding people to read your blog or encourage you to keep blogging is hard. WP.com takes away some of that difficulty.

While most new marketing efforts are directed towards “sites” and not “blogs” I decided to write the copy for people like me. People who are just looking for a place to belong and I think that place for alot of people can be WordPress.com. The copy could probably be tweaked a bit. I kinda blur the line between org/com and the wording is awkward at times but I think it gets the point across (but having the video done would certainly help).

I was gonna do the video to go along with this audio but it would take a ton of work and I don’t really know if I’m up to it right now, but maybe I’ll get bored later and give it a try. I really like the music as it makes me happy listening to it, well worth the $17 I paid for it and I think the voiceover turned out amazing too, especially for only $5.

Another neat fiverr gig. I’m having way more than $5 worth of fun.

More fiverr fun 🙂

Experimenting with Video — Fake WP.com Commercial

As you know I’m always looking for something to do. Lately I’ve become obsessed with fiverr.com. People will actually do some pretty neat things for $5. The first thing I did was have a couple voiceovers done. While they turned out pretty nice I thought it would be better with some video.

So I fired up Motion and started playing around. It actually is pretty fun. Above is my first attempt at working with video/audio. The voiceover was done by a guy on fiverr, the video clip was purchased on videohive, and the music came from audiojungle. I think it turned out pretty good and I have a few more projects in mind that should keep me busy for a while.

Also if you haven’t figured it out yet this is one of Optimus Prime’s speeches from the last transformers movie with a few words changed.

Liam Neeson on Akismet

I find the whole concept of APIs to be a bit confusing. I’m trying to learn more about them and I thought it would be interesting to hear the exchange between Akismet and the spambots. The weird thing was while I was having this thought Liam Neeson came into my office and he had some thoughts on this that he agreed to share for only $5 🙂 .
