I have this poster hanging above my desk in the office. I really like it and think its words are powerful and inspiring but living by it is really hard for me as it takes a strength I don’t think I possess.

I’ve thought about taking it down and putting up a hang in there kitty poster instead but I will probably keep in up there as motivation to become a person who could live by it.

I was a little stressed this morning before taking my Secured Transactions final so I decided to play the chillout song by Ze Frank. Its a neat little song especially when you read the story behind it. If you are stressed out today maybe give it a listen and see if it helps.

Khalil Gibran

A little knowledge that acts is worth infinitely more than much knowledge that is idle.

Khalil Gibran

For those who don’t know Khalil Gibran is a pretty famous poet from my dad’s home country of Lebanon. He is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu. This quote is one of my favorites.

If you wish to converse with medefine your terms”.

Voltaire

I heard this quote today in class and I thinks it applies nicely to helping people understand WordPress. Word choice is very important when helping others and lately I’ve been trying harder to make sure that my word choice is not doing more harm than good.

Avoiding Easy & Writing Beginner Level Tutorials

I find coding is an incredible means of self-expression. Scripting is the new literacy. A hundred years ago, the dividing line was the ability to read and write. Today, it’s between people who can code simple things, and those who can’t. It’s so liberating to have an idea and be able to bend the computer to your will. I’ve found that of the most rewarding experiences in life is to create something that provides a useful function for other people. There’s an intrinsic goodness in it, like how I imagine what a true craftsman would put into a chair, table or door. You build it for the ages. You can do that with code as well, particularly with open source software, where people do the work because they love it.

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.
